The Supreme Court and Roe
Today is a great day for life! The Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade through it’s Dobbs v Jackson case. As a County Commissioner, this doesn’t mean much, but as an American and as a human being, this is monumental.
We have a few people to thank for today: the justices who signed on to the majority opinion, Mitch McConnell, Chuck Grassley, and definitely President Trump, who nominated 50% of the majority to the Supreme Court. Credit must be given when credit is due.
I’ve always believed that abortion is evil. The millions (many minorities and women) slaughtered in the womb because of “choice” now have had their day in court. The chimera that there are significant medical reasons for abortion are just an excuse to make sure access remains.
Modern abortion exists because of the eugenics movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We need to leave that practice where it belongs, in the dustbin of history. This is a huge step in the right direction.
