D-Day Rememberance
“Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.”
-Winston Churchill
Of course, Churchill was referring to the brave pilots of the RAF during the Battle of Britain, and not the heroes of June 6, 1944. However, I believe that, as a grandchild of 2 members of the Greatest Generation, we owe the wonderful life we have as Americans to those who sacrificed their lives for us.
My grandfather (Pacific Vet) always said that the heroes are the guys who never came back. Not to quibble with him, but I’ve always felt that eliminating Fascism, then coming back and being productive members of society made those men a hero to me. It would have been easy to be disillusioned and bitter, and while most struggled with PTSD, they came home, had families, and led productive lives leading to the greatest expansion of prosperity in human history.
I am, and always will be, thankful for the men and women of the Greatest Generation and I hope you remember them, and thank any World War II veterans you may know or see today.
