Economic Development
Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy. I will support policies that cut regulation and fees that stand in the way of small business owners from growing their businesses. I will also support economic development projects that bring long-term and sustainable jobs to the Grand Rapids metropolitan area.
Government Transparency & Accountability
Sunlight is the best disinfectant and that is the same for government. Government should be an open book and citizens should have the ability to review and question anything before the Board of Commissioners for consideration. I will support expanding the opportunity for citizens to be involved in the governmental process. I also pledge to hold a monthly coffee club in the district and make myself available to citizens.
Fiscal Responsibility
Kent County currently has a triple-A bond rating that shows creditors we pay our bills. I will only support a budget that is balanced and maintains this bond rating. As a County Commissioner, I believe my role is to be a good steward of taxpayer dollars.
Affordable Housing
Kent County currently has a lack of housing and this hurts workforce retention. I believe the best avenue to resolve this is partnering with local nonprofit and government agencies to identify solutions to bring more affordable housing to the area. Kent County is the best place to work, live, and to raise a family. We must identify solutions for families to remain in Kent County by providing affordable housing.
Pro-Life
I am 100% pro-life. I’ve been endorsed exclusively by Michigan Right to Life. As a conservative Christian, I believe life begins at conception. As your Commissioner, my Christian values will guide me in each decision I make.
Support for Public Safety
Law enforcement is currently under attack in our society. Police are made out to be the villains while they should be made out to be heroes and being thanked. I will support policies that provide our Sheriff Department the resources to serve & protect and keep the men & women who serve us safe. Local government’s #1 priority should be the safety of its citizens and we should not waver from this.
